Here at Glide + Slide, our reputation for boot fitting is very important to us. As far as we are concerned there is no such thing as a bargain ski boot, and this is why:

Ski boots are one of the most important parts of your ski holiday. You are going to spend most of this holiday on your feet skiing, and so it follows that you want the best fit, and the best in comfort for all-day skiing. Why waste precious time in and out of the boot rental shop trying to find the boot which hurts less than the rest? Boots should not hurt at all! Steven Hankin, the owner of Glide + Slide, has been boot fitting for over 25 years and has a huge amount of expertise in fitting ski boots, from novices through to expert instructors and ski racers.

So you have decided you may want to buy your own boots?
We feel we offer a great service because:

• We have a wide choice. We stock Atomic, Dolomite, Head, Nordica, Salomon, Scarpa and Strolz ski boots. We also recognise that everyone has different-shaped feet, ankles and shins, and one or two makes of boot may just be the wrong shape for you. This still leaves you with choice for the most comfortable fit.
• We do not rush the boot fitting process. We ask you to allow approximately 2 hours - which may seem a long time, but is only a tiny proportion of the time you will spend in the boots over your holidays.
• We will ask you about the type of skier you are. If you are not sure, we have an ability chart on which you can gauge your standard, and this will help us in finding the right boot for you.
• We would ask you to bring in the socks you usually wear for skiing. It is best to fit boots with your socks as they too can be of varying styles and thicknesses and can make a difference to boot fit.
• We need time for you to try the boots on, walk round the shop, and compare one boot with another (we do provide tea and coffee!!).
• For those with feet that will benefit from support, we may recommend a footbed, but this will be fully discussed with you.
• People often have bumps and bunions. We can stretch boots over the specific area to accommodate these, to prevent the boot rubbing.
• For people who have such problems with their feet that they have never ever found a comfortable ski boot, Strolz always has the answer with a bespoke foam-fit ski boot.
• Whatever price boot you buy, the process will be the same, and the time taken will be the same.
• If at any time you need any further tweaking or adjustments made to the boot for your comfort, we will do this free of charge.
• We know that kids grow out of boots quickly. We offer a buy-back scheme, in which we will allow a discount from a new pair in exchange for the old boots, commensurate with the condition in which they are received by us.
